Reference Monitor Loudspeaker

from $6,865.00

The design uses the same genuine drivers, cross over as the original Hartley. The Reference Monitor uses two polypropylene drivers with an exceptionally large voice coil and magnet fabricated in-house to Hartley precision specs.

The  Re- design by Tri-Art Audio involves the port orientation and the movement of one of the drivers up above the tweeter. This adjustment allows for greater linearity, resulting in exceptional dynamic range and clarity, as well as extended low end response with minimal distortion.
The driver positioning and port adjustments help the overall acoustic focus, giving it more precision.

    Monitor Stands
The Reference monitors are now on short stands instead of the old version of being floor-standing. These changes really tighten up the sound, producing a faster and more detailed response.

    Cabinet Design
A significant design change is with the cabinet. The hexagonal shape of the cabinet with a narrow front to an increased back amplifies the play of external energy acting like a reversed folded horn making for a high resolution and very fast detailed sound.
    - The waffled edges at the back of the speaker help guide the sound out smoothly, like turbulence at the end of an aircraft wing. This keeps the sound clean and clear, without unwanted reflections.

  • Materials

    Acoustically treated sound absorber.
    - A blend of different density sheep and hemp wool, sourced locally, is used for sound dampening.
    - The cabinet is made from  high-quality, solid 3 ply bamboo, cured and CNC fabricated in-house. Bamboo is selected for its density, and resonance control which lends a natural harmonic contribution to the speaker sound. Finished with a hand rubbed oil application.

Natural: A hand-applied, clear finish that allows for the natural grain and patina of the bamboo to be revealed.

Black: A hand applied, rich covering stain that blocks all the grain of the wood.

Distressed Black: A hand-applied, dark stain that allows for highlights to be revealed resulting in an umbra effect.

Graphite: A hand-applied, translucent finish that enhances the grain and details of the wood.

TREATMENT: Use Tri-Art Audio’s wood treatment oil to maintain the finish and treat the wood.
